Unconscious Dog Makes Full Recovery After Penrith Mountain Rescue Call Out

A dog that had a seizure coming down off Cross Fell has made a full recovery.

On Saturday, September 28, Penrith Mountain Rescue were contacted after a walker phoned in that his dog, a six-year old Spaniel, had had a seizure whilst descending Cross Fell.

When the Penrith Mountain Rescue team arrived on scene, they found the dog unresponsive and very cold.

The dog was stretchered back down the fell by the team and then taken to Frame and Swift Veterinary Centre for treatment.

Frame and Swift have revealed that Radar the spaniel, who on arrival was unconscious from hypothermia and low blood glucose recovered quickly.

After 3 hours of intensive care and active warming, as well as some gravy bones, Radar recovered and was discharge him back to his owners that evening.

A spokesperson for Frame and Swift said: “We are really grateful for the Mountain Rescue Team, who do an incredible job for anyone in need on our fells.”
