Penrith and Shap Fire Stations were called out to a well developed barn fire near Shap.

Called out late on Sunday, September 29, one appliance from Shap and one from Penrith were mobilised to a building fire just outside Shap.

En route to the fire Shaps officer in charge spoke to the caller to get further details on the fire.

With the additional information and having local knowledge of the area knowing there was poor access to this incident and poor water supplies in the area he called up for a further appliance from Penrith.

The crews were met on scene by a well developed fire in a barn and worked through the night to extinguish this.

Unfortunately they weren’t able to save the barn itself but we’re able to stop the fire from spreading to the adjoining house.
