Due to the challenges of carrying out from this location, the Cockermouth Mountain Rescue Team Leader requested assistance from a Coastguard Rescue helicopter.

Rescue 199 arrived from Prestwick just as the first Team members were getting to the scene after a steep ascent from Buttermere.

Fortunately, a passing Emergency Medical Technician had already assessed the casualty, and quickly passed on their findings to the Team, who then secured the casualty site to allow R199 to winch the casualty up for onward transport to West Cumberland Hospital.
