A multi agency response was launched as a house caught fire in Kendal with a man in his 90s dying.

Alerted to the incident at 6.55am on Tuesday, September 24, Cumbria Police, Cumbria Fire and Rescue and North West Ambulance service attended a property on Westwood Avenue, Kendal.

Where a man, in his 90s, was taken from the property by firefighters and was treated at the scene but was confirmed deceased while on the way to hospital.

Joint enquiries are underway involving police and the fire service.

There are no suspicious circumstances at this time.
