The Cumbria Rungwe Community Link (CRCL) is recruiting for its next chapter of student exchanges and charity work.
Taking place at St Benedict’s Catholic High School’ theatre on Wednesday, September 25, the event will showcase the opportunities the charity has to offer.
The CRCL is a community link between Cumbria and Rungwe in Tanzania set up in 1987 to provide education, opportunities and multicultural experiences to young people and the wider community of West Cumbria and relieve poverty through aid, development and education in Rungwe.
Working on an inward and outward cycle each covering a year, the charity spends a majority of its time fundraising and raising awareness for two visits.
With students at the centre of the work the charity does they learn event planning, organisation, communication, leadership skills along with lessons in Swahili.
The charity has just completed the outward journey to Rungwe, Tanzania with students describing the visit as an “adventure of a lifetime” and how “kind and welcoming everyone was” out there.
The information evening might be taking place at St Benedict’s Catholic High School but students from other schools are welcome with previous years seeing West Lakes Academy, Whitehaven Academy, St Bees School and further working together.
