A new skills service has been launched at the Westmorland County Show with Westmorland and Lonsdale MP attending.
The new Land + Nature Skills Service (LANSS) for Cumbria has been officially launched at the Westmorland County Show on Wednesday, September 11, with Tim Farron MP attending.

The official launch was hosted by Julia Aglionby (Professor in Practice, University of Cumbria) with three speakers advocating for the service with Tim Farron MP, University of Cumbria Vice Chancellor Juile Mennell, and Mark Johnston, Managing Director of H&H Land & Estates.
The aim of Land + Nature Skill Service is to make accessing courses and opportunities in Cumbria for the rural sector
easier as there is lots going on across the county but people are not always aware of the resources available.
The service will also be working with training providers and employers to identify gaps in training provision in Cumbria.
It is a unique partnership with the Cumbria Chamber of Commerce, University of Cumbria, The Farmer Network, and Cumbria Wildlife Trust.
Land + Nature Skill Service will provide an information hub and a searchable database of courses and work based opportunities in the land and nature-based sectors in and near to Cumbria to support a skilled and inclusive workforce fit for the future of land and nature-based work in the county.
