Two Coastguard teams and North West Ambulance Service were called to an emergency at Drigg Beach.
On Wednesday, September 5, a call was received that there was a medical emergency at Drigg Beach.
A spokesperson for Whitehaven Coastguard said: “We wish the casualty a full and speedy recovery. We’d also like to extend our thanks to the members of the public who acted quickly by calling for help and assisting at the scene before emergency services arrived.”

North West Ambulance Service provided immediate medical care to the casualty, while the Whitehaven team prepared for extraction, ensuring everything was in place as the tide approached.
Additional support arrived swiftly, with Millom Coastguard Rescue Team joining forces to assist in carrying the stretcher off the beach.
