Cumbria Police have confirmed an arrest has been made in connection to a theft of an outboard engine.
Overnight on Sunday, September 1, a man was arrested in relation to the theft of a Suzuki outboard engine from Windermere.
Cumbria Police confirmed the arrest occurred in another constabulary’s area and the male will be interviewed by officers later.
A spokesperson for Cumbria Police said: “Please remain vigilant to activity that looks out of place or suspicious around boats and boat storage areas.”
Any suspicious activity can be reported on 101 or 999 if a crime is in progress.
This arrest comes after Cumbria police officers handed out 20 SelectaDNA forensic marking kits to boat and outboard engine owners on Windermere.
The SelectaDNA marking kits were funded by the Police Fire and Crime Commissioner and handed out free of charge as part of Operation Headway, that looks to prevent boat and engine thefts.
