Egremont Rugby Union Pay Respects To Former Chairman Dr John Veitch

Egremont Rugby Union have announced the passing of their former Chairman and Cumbria Rugby President Dr John Veitch.

The club took to social media to pay their respects to a “friendly, jovial and very humble man” who passed on Monday, August 26.

The statement read: “Our club is saddened to learn that Doctor John Veitch died on Monday 26th August. John was our clubs Chairman for many years and was an Honorary Life Member.

“He was a former President of Cumbria Rugby Union and was the Medical Officer to the Cumbria Senior Men’s team for many seasons.John was a friendly, jovial and very humble man.

“He loved to join a game of touch rugby at the start of a training session and always had time to treat our players’ injuries, irrespective of whether you were playing for our clubs Third XV or Cumbria.

“He was loved by all of our clubs players and members.

“Our clubs thoughts are with Sandra, Sarah and their family at this sad time. RIP Doctor, we miss you.”

Not only was Dr Veitch known through his work with Cumbria’s rugby union clubs he was the GP at Beach House, Egremont.
