Whitehaven Rugby League will take to the pitch against Dewsbury Rams after the players say they will play.
In what new coach Kyle Amor has described as a “chaotic, baptism of fire, whirlwind week” he announced that the team will be heading to Dewsbury Rams on Sunday, August 25.
In an interview for Whitehaven RL Amor praised the “Cumbrian gritty underdog mentality” shown by the squad and that there is potential for them to do something special.
It will be a welcome announcement that the players will take to the pitch as Storm Lillian causes widespread flooding with Whitehaven’s The Ortus Rec not being spared.

This latest development follows the announcement late on Tuesday, August 20, that the players had decided not to fulfil the remaining six fixtures of the season.
This followed coach Jonty Gorley’s resignation on Sunday, August 18, after the club’s 28-24 victory over Doncaster and the appointment of Amor as his replacement.
Earlier in the month CEO Les Messenger had explained the club’s financial situation on August 7 with the announcement revealing that they owed £8,000 in taxes and £14,000 to the players, with just two Directors at the club.
The club then announced the return of former directors Dennis Bullock, Terry Barry, Gary Eilbeck, Barry Morgan, Dave Pennington and Grant Taylor with long-term supporter and volunteer Tommy Johnson also joining.
