The Mayor of Workington and the MP for Whitehaven and Workington will attend the grand opening of Hospice at Home West Cumbria’s retail shop, following a successful first week of operations.

The event will take place on Friday, August 23, at 10.30am, marking a significant milestone in the charities ongoing efforts to support the West Cumbria’s communities.

There will be a cutting of the ribbon ceremony, signifying the shop’s official launch.

Commenting on the Grand Opening, Judith Jarman, Retail Manager for Hospice at Home West Cumbria said: “We are thrilled to open our new retail shop and welcome the community to join us in celebrating this exciting occasion.

“The support we have received has been overwhelming, and I would like to thank everyone in the community who has been out to support us this week”.

The ceremony will be attended by Workington’s Mayor Councillor Neil Schofield and MP, Josh McAllister, showing support for the hospice and in their latest venture.

The new shop, located on Campbell-Savours Way, Workington, offers a wide variety of quality donated goods, including clothes, books, toys and homeware.

All proceeds from the shop go directly to supporting the essential services provided by Hospice at Home West Cumbria, which provides high quality, palliative and end of life care to people living in West Cumbria.

The charity needs to raise over £1.5 million each year to deliver palliative and end of life care to patients and their families across West Cumbria, which are provided free of charge to those who need them.

The event promises to be a wonderful opportunity for the community to come together, meet the team behind Hospice at Home West Cumbria, and learn more about the vital work the charity does.

The charity extends a warm invitation to all residents and supporters to join the event, there will be live music from Ged Hagan and a tombola with the opportunity to win some prizes for shoppers throughout the day.
