Operation Lookout Reaps Reward With Two Arrested On Suspicion Of Cultivating Cannabis In Whitehaven

Cumbria Police have arrested two people following warrant at a property on Lowther Street, Whitehaven.

The warrant, conducted as part of Operation Lookout is the force response to tackling commercial cannabis grows.

Officers from intel, CID, Tactical Support Group and the Neighbourhood Policing Team conducted the warrant early in the morning of Tuesday, August 6, discovered a cannabis farm at the property with approximately 1,000 plants.

Two men were arrested on suspicion of cultivating cannabis and remain in police custody.

The investigation remains ongoing.

As part of Operation Lookout Cumbria Police have released some tell-tale signs that could indicate a cannabis farm is in your neighbourhood.

These include:

  • Strong, sickly smells coming from properties
  • Properties where the windows are constantly covered
  • Excessive security around properties, such as CCTV
  • High levels of unusual condensation on windows
  • Lots of visitors – and at unsociable hours
  • Bright lights day and night
  • Constant buzz of ventilation
