West Cumbria Bowls Leagues: Knockout Cup Final Lineup Decided As Leagues Heat Up

The Mixed Triples League took a break as the Knockout Cup finalists were decided and the Fours League threw up another twist.

The county’s Champion of Champions has been revealed after two days of competition at Keswick’s Fitz Park green.

West Cumbria Mixed Triples League

The league continues to take a break with a catch up week before the teams return for the final three weeks of matches.

Croft are through to the Knockout Final after a 5-4 win over Wigton on Tuesday, July 30, while Workington beat Harris Park A 9-0 on to make the final.

In the league Whitehaven A won 7-2 at Harris Park A on Thursday, August 1 and Workington won 7-2 against Harris Park A as well.

Whitehaven A have closed the gap on Friday, August 2, with a 2-5 win at third placed Fitz Park.

Maryport won 7-0 against Workington B and Cleator Moor took a 0-7 win from Whitehaven B as Vulcan Park recorded a 7-0 win over Seaton.

Whitehaven A miss a week on Friday, August 9, as Workington A travel to Seaton while Fitz Park head to Vulcan Park and Cleator Moor host Maryport while the B teams battle as Whitehaven head to Workington.

The Cumbria Champion of Champions has been crowned after two days of competition at Keswick.

On Saturday, August 3, the competition to crown the champion of the club champions started with Workington’s James Park beating Seaton’s Kevin Vallely 21-7 while Whitehaven’s Ryan Prince won 21-14 against Stanwix’s Martyn Holding in the preliminary round.

Park continued his form in the first round with a 21-13 win over Carlisle Subscription’s Ian Gallagher while Prince beat Lazonby’s Steven Phillipson 21-16.

Appleby’s Peter Metcalfe progressed with a 21-12 win over Courtfield’s Paul Campbell as Huw Crosby from Croft won 21-17 over Harris Park’s Jonathan Moffat in the battle of Cockermouth.

Seascale’s Tony Jennings lost 21-15 to Fitz Park’s Ryan Brannan while Mike Hall from Penrith Friars beat Mike Reynard of Caldbeck 21-19 and Silloth’s Paul Wallace won 21-16 against Shap’s Ben Moss.

In the quarter finals Park beat Metcalfe 21-3 as Brannan won 21-8 against Crosby while Hall progressed with a 21-9 win over Dennis Ridley of Penrith Castle Park and Wallace was victorious in a closer 21-13 game against Prince.

Heading into Sunday, August 4, with the semifinals and finals and James Park beat Ryan Brannan 21-6 while Paul Wallace book his place in the final with a 21-7 win over Mike Hall.

After a tight start with both players on 8-8 before James Park pushed on to record a 21-9 win over Paul Wallace.
