Cumberland Council Have Closed A Footpath In Carlisle Over Safety Concerns

A footpath in Carlisle has been closed by Cumberland Council after safety concerns have been raised over a depression.

The footpath on Lowther Street, Carlisle has developed a dip in the path and due to safety concerns related to a cellar at the base of Lowther Street it has been temporarily closed.

As a result, the bus stop at this location is also closed.

A spokesperson for the council said: “For your safety, please do not attempt to bypass the barriers.

“The VPZ Vape Shop remains open, with the fencing adjusted to allow access.

“We are working closely with the property owner so that they can resolve this issue as quickly as possible, but the footpath may be closed for some time.

“Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.”
