Police Appeal For Witnesses After Motorbikes Damage Cumbrian Golf Course

Cumbria Police is appealing for witnesses after damage was caused to the Furness Golf Club, near Barrow.

Furness Golf Club stated in a social media post the damage was caused over “multiple holes” after motorcycles were driven across the course.

The club posted: “Sadly this morning greeted our Greenstaff, members and visitors with significant damage to the golf course on multiple holes.

“2nd [sic] night in 2 days where motorbikes have caused unecessary damage to the golf course.”

Following this the police shared a series of images have been shared on social media showing the “mess” that has been made at the golf club.

The pictures showed a dirt bike track, a ready to us golf course and the third was the damage to the Barrow golf course.

In the post police said: “For those who seem a little confused. Attached are 3 pictures.

“One of these is a dirt bike track, the other is a golf course and the final is a picture of the mess that has been caused at Walney golf course.

“Unfortunately certain members of the public don’t seem to know the difference, resulting in thousands of pounds worth of damage to Walney golf course.

“We are appealing for any witnesses and would be extremely grateful for any information leading to the identification of the culprits.

The Herdwick News has approached Furness Golf Club for a comment.
