The Eden Valley Leagues heat up as all the league titles are still up for grabs as Cumbria’s Middleton Cup team still have a say in National qualification.

At the top of Division One Lazonby were 6-4 winners at home to Caldbeck on Tuesday, July 2, while Penrith Friars B beat Appleby A 8-2 to stay ahead of Fitz Park A who also won 2-8 at Temple Sowerby and Linton won 1-9 at Fitz Park B.

Leaders Lazonby head to Appleby A on Tuesday, July 9, as Penrith Friars B face a trip to fourth placed Caldbeck while Fitz Park A play Fitz Park B and Linton welcome Temple Sowerby in a battle of the bottom two.

Temple Sowerby and Appleby could not be separated with a 4-4 draw and Penrith Castle Park moved above hosts Shap with a 2-6 victory.

Caldbeck travel to Penrith Castle Park on Thursday, July 11, as Fitz Park A host Temple Sowerby while Lazonby head to Appleby and Penrith Friars welcome Fitz Park B while the bottom two face off as Shap play Skelton.

Cumbria’s Middleton Cup team were inaction on Saturday, July 6, against Durham who were looking to try and reach the quarter finals.

Heading into the final game Nottinghamshire were in pole position having beating Durham and Cumbria and needed to avoid a big defeat to Yorkshire.

While Durham still had a chance to qualify but needed Yorkshire to beat Nottinghamshire and have a good win against Cumbria.

With only pride to play for the Cumbrian showed up beating Durham 116-110 to take 18 points as Nottinghamshire booked their place with a 122-129 win against Yorkshire.
