Cumbria Police have arrested a man on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm following an incident in Distington.

Officers were called to Midtown Close last night, July 2, after being made aware that a man in the street had suffered a head injury.

He was taken to the West Cumberland Hospital for treatment and later discharged.

A man, 42, was arrested in connection with the incident last night and remains in custody.

A cordon was in place in part of Distington last night while enquiries were carried out.

A spokesperson thanked the public for their patience during this time.

They also said that they are appealing for information and anyone with information can get in contact with the police on 101.
