A man who was arrested for stalking, in Whitehaven, went on to assault a police officer in custody.
On Friday, June 28, Cumbria Police arrested a man for stalking.
Police said the man was “compliant” while being taken to the station however a “scuffle” occurred at the custody desk.
The man then head butted a police officer and was given a further arrest for that.
In a social media post police said: “Initially the individual was compliant which made for a swift transit to custody where our CID were waiting to take over the case.
“Whilst at the custody desk the male became agitated; after a scuffle, he was further arrested for Police assault after he headbutted PC 3157 and spat in PC 2241s face.
“Unfortunately this kind of incident comes with the territory, but this behaviour won’t be tolerated and the offences will be dealt with robustly.
“Both officers are safe and well despite one sporting a bruise and a bump.”
