County News

There were two wins for Cumbria’s county teams over the weekend.

Heading to Silloth on Saturday, June 22, the men’s Alsop team faced Northumberland looking to bounce back from defeat in their first match.

It came down to the last bowl of the game as the other five matches had finished with Cumbria holding a slim advantage overall but enough shots down in the match to lose.

Coming in the bowl cut down the visitors shots to give Cumbria a 118-115 victory and a 15 points to move second in the table behind Durham.

Playing at the Regional Final on Sunday, June 23, for the Walker Cup, Cumbria’s Women won their semifinal against Durham 41-34 while Yorkshire progress with a 35-40 victory over Nottinghamshire.

In the final Cumbria and Yorkshire renewed their rivalry with the White Rose county taking the match by two shots with a 38-40 win to book their place at the National Finals.
