West Cumbria Bowls Leagues: Mixed Triples Takes A Break As Workington Lose In The Fours

The West Cumbria Triples League moved over while teams focused on the Knockout Cup as Maryport and Workington battle it out at the top of the Fours League while Cumbria were back in action.

While the league took a break Egremont made their way to Seascale in a rearranged game on Tuesday, June 11, where they went down 7-2 to the hosts.

Cleator Moor brought their Knockout Cup match at Cockermouth’s Croft forward and the holders went out 9-0.

The League action returns on Tuesday, June 18, as leaders Wigtin head to Workington while Croft can take advantage of Whitehaven A not playing when they face Cockermouth’s Harris Park B.

Seaton take on Vulcan Park as Harris Park A play Maryport while down the table Seascale welcome Whitehaven B and Cleator Moor face Egremont.

West Cumbria Fours League

In a shock result leaders Workington A lost 4-3 to Fitz Park on Friday, June 14, after what looked likely to be a 7-0 but as with all sports it’s not over till it is over.

while Maryport came back from Vulcan Park with a 3-4 win.

In the battle for the top four Seaton lost out as Cleator Moor came away with a 0-7 win and Whitehaven A squeezed past Workington B 2-5.

On Friday, June 21, the season will hit the half way mark as Workington A face Workington B and Whitehaven A play Whitehaven B as Maryport sit this week out.

Cleator Moor welcome Vulcan Park as Fitz Park head to Seaton.

Travelling to face Nottinghamshire the Cumbria lost the match 116-95 (18-4) with Nottinghamshire only needing to avoid a heavy defeat to Yorkshire to qualify for the next round.
