The West Cumbrian festival enthralled with Matt Le Tissier, Katie Hopkins and Mark Attwood captivating the audience with different types of performances.
When the Weekend Truth Festival was revealed to be taking place in West Cumbria on May 1-3 there was some speculation about how the event would do.
Catching up with organisers Kev and Nic we gleaned an insight into the members only event that had everyone talking.
As usual the weather in the county was less than ideal but this didn’t dampen the spirits of the hundreds who attended with Kev and Nic saying: “We feel that the festival went very well despite the weather letting us down.”

As people, traders and speakers descended on West Cumbria there was plenty on offer with workshops for adults and children but three speakers stood out for the organisers.
“There were so many highlights, it’s hard to pinpoint one but I think Matt le Tissier, Mark Attwood and Katie Hopkins were brilliant in particular.
“We are planning a WTF2 but haven’t settled on a date as yet. The feedback has been amazing from those that attended though and we keep getting emails from people wanting to be added to the mailing list regarding future events.”

Former Southampton and England footballer Matt Le Tissier has gained a new audience as he moved away from football with his commentary on Covid-19, Black Lives Matter protests and war in Ukraine.
Host of The Mark Attwood Show: Adventures in a Meat Suit, Mark Attwood became an internationally recognised poet during the COVID pandemic and toured America in 2022.
Well known social commentator Katie Hopkins brought her stand up, Silly Cow, that is currently touring the UK and Ireland.
With the success of the festival we asked if the pair had plans for any other events ahead of the Weekend Truth Festival 2, to which Kev and Nic responded: “We don’t have any plans as yet as we are getting a bit of r&r after 9 months of planning and then the birth of WTF. It’s going to be bigger and better next time wherever and whenever it may be.”
The pair then went on to praise everyone involved: “Overall, the speakers and volunteers made the festival what it was, without them it would have not been possible.
“We want to thank all the attendees, traders and the volunteers (Truth team) for making it a very special weekend.
“We are really looking to WTF2 and are planning something really special for next time.”
