After speedway made a successful return to Workington last year and history this year the community was left disappointed after a break in at Northside.
The break in is believed to have happened in the early hours of Wednesday, May 29, with the storage building housing the track equipment including strimmer’s, grass cutters, power tools and other equipment being targeted.
With the loss of equipment estimated in the thousands the Workington Comets Supporters Club jumped into action.
Setting up a go fund me the target was to raise £2,000 to help offset the cost of the equipment needed to keep the Comets season going.
The total currently sits at £3,454 and anyone wanting to donate can do so here.
Workington Speedway are aiming to get back on track for their home meeting against Plymouth on Saturday, June 15.
While police the investigation is ongoing the Comets are encouraging anyone with information to contact them or the police on 101.
