Penrith Mountain Rescue were called out to help after a farmer had slipped while out tending to their sheep.
The call came in from the North West Ambulance Service on Monday, May 27, after they had been requested as the farmer had fell several meters down a rocky outcrop near Melmerby.

Working with the paramedics, the casualty’s injured leg was splinted and the 14 member Penrith team placed her onto a stretcher and carried her back to the waiting ambulance in nearby Melmerby.
The mountain rescue services around the county are all volunteers and rely on donations to run.
