Eden Valley Bowls Leagues: Mixed Triples Lead Changes Hands As Weather Postpones Other League Games

The Mixed Triples fixtures in the Eden Valley Leagues all survived the weather as the lead changed hands again.

The lead of Division One returned to Penrith Friars B with an 8-2 win at home to Caldbeck on Tuesday, May 21, as Appleby A were 4-6 winners at home to Lazonby.

Linton joined the trio of clubs in third with a 4-6 win at Temple Sowerby and Fitz Park B won the battle of Fitz Park beating the A team 8-2.

Leaders Penrith Friars B travel to Fitz Park B on Tuesday, May 28, while Appleby A face Temple Sowerby as Caldbeck take on Fitz Park A and Linton and Lazonby will have to rearrange their game.

In Division Two Wetheral continued their dominance with a 10-0 win over second placed Shap on Tuesday, May 21, while Penrith Castle Park failed to capitalise with a 6-4 defeat at Skelton and Dalston moved a point behind them with a 6-4 victory over Penrith Friars A.

Wetheral will look to continue their winning run when they face Penrith Friars A on Tuesday, May 28, while Shap face Dalston and Appleby B travel to Skelton.

Eden Valley Mixed Rinks

There were just the two games on Thursday, May 23, as Penrith Castle Park lost 8-0 to Penrith Friars and Temple Sowerby also win 8-0 against Skelton.

Appleby brought their game with Penrith Castle Park forward and won 6-2.

The teams will be hoping for better wether on Thursday, May 30, when Fitz Park A host Caldbeck as the top two face off while Temple Sowerby head to Penrith Castle Park and Appleby welcome Penrith Friars.

Shap take on Fitz Park B and Skelton face Lazonby.

County News

Cumbria’s county teams were in action as the under 25’s travelled to Bolton on Sunday, May 26, to face Lancashire for a place in the North finals day.

The eight youngsters were beaten 52-27 by the hosts to go out of the competition.

The Women’s county teams got their season underway in the Stella Logan and Northern Trophy League with defeats to Yorkshire in both competitions.
