Penrith Fire Station have thanked quick thinking residents after they responded to a property fire in Hackthorpe.
The incident on Tuesday evening, May 14, both Penrith appliances were mobilised to reports of a building fire in Hackthorpe.

The occupant had closed the door from the living room to the rest of the property and prevented spread and escalation to the rest of the property.
Leading to a relatively straightforward operation for the fire crews which was made easier as people moved their cars to allow access to the property before the crews arrived.
A spokesperson for Penrith Fire Station said: “Closing doors at night and when you leave the house can potentially make the difference between a fire in a room and a fire involving the whole property.
“We would like to thank the local community for the quick thinking of moving cars to give us better access and the compassion and support shown to the family.
“The crew will be in the area conducting home safety visits. If you are not available when we call by or aren’t from the area but would like a visit, please get in touch.”
