Keswick Rugby Union Club Win Papa Johns Cup Final

Keswick Rugby Union Club have won the Region 2 North Shield Papa Johns Cup final.

The Cumbrian side secured the trophy with a 20-17 win over Olney at the Darlington Arena on Sunday, May 12.

It almost wasn’t their day as the Buckinghamshire club were leading 10-17 at half time.

Before Keswick produced a ten point turnaround in the second half to win the cup final.

On route to the Region 2 North Shield final the Cumbrian side beat Kirkby Lonsdale 23-18 and then they beat West Hartlepool 28-24 on a damp day in Keswick.

Olney beat Mellish 26-50 before dispatching Towcestrians 36-19 and then Winnington Park 55-10 in the semifinal.

Keswick were not the only Cumbrian rugby union side celebrating after winning a national final as Workington Finches won 22-10 against Westcliff Ladies at Worcester’ Sixways Stadium on May 11 in the Papa Johns Women’s Plate final.
