Cumbria Police has confirmed the human remains found near Carlisle are of the missing man Paul Taylor.

Paul Taylor was last seen leaving his home address in Annan sometime after 9:45pm on October 17, 2023. 

His car, a blue Vauxhall, was last seen in Carlisle on October 18, 2023. 

Three arrests were made – one in October 2023 and two in March 2023 – in connection with the investigation.

On May 2, 2024, human remains were found in the area of Finglandrigg Wood, off the B5307 outside Carlisle.

Police have now confirmed these to be of the missing Annan man.

In a statement, Cumbria Police said: “A police presence will be in the area for some time while officers continue with their work at the scene.

“People are asked to avoid the area to allow this work to continue.

“Paul’s family have been informed.”
