A 15-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of possession of a knife following a stop search by officers in Whitehaven town centre.

On Tuesday, May 7, the boy initially made off from officers before being stopped and when searched was found to be in possession of a knife.

A spokesperson for Cumbria Police said: “We continue to work hard to tackle knife crime by enforcing the law and educating people from an early age about the dangers of carrying a knife and getting involved in violent crime.”

He has since been released on bail whilst investigations are ongoing.
