Cumbria Police are warning residents and motorists to avoid an area of St Bees as a property has sprung a gas leak.

Police were contacted shortly before 7:55pm today, May 7, with a report of a gas leak coming from a property on the B5345 near to Wood Lane.

Emergency services are in liaison with gas engineers and the road has been closed.

Nearby residents have been advised to keep windows and doors closed until the incident has been resolved.

Motorists are asked to avoid the area.
