West Cumbria Bowls Leagues Starts New Season With Most Games Surviving The Weather

The West Cumbria Leagues have started with most games surviving the weather as last season top teams have a mixed start.

West Cumbria Mixed Triples League

Workington got their Triples defence underway on Tuesday, April 30, with a 0-9 win at Workington side Vulcan Park as Wigton also picked up a 0-9 win at Maryport.

In the battle of Whitehaven the B lost to the A team 2-7 while Knockout Cup winners Cleator Moor left Seaton with a 7-2 defeat as Cockermouth’s two sides faced each other as Harris Park A lost 4-5 to Croft.

Seascale’ game with Egremont was postponed due to bad weather.

The next round is set to take place on Tuesday, May 7, with Whitehaven A hosting Egremont as Seaton welcome Seascale and Cleator Moor face Workington.

Vulcan Park head to Maryport with Croft travelling to Wigton and Harris Park’s A team faces their B team.

West Cumbria Fours League

The Whitehaven Trophies sponsored West Cumbria Fours League got underway on Friday, April 26, as Workington A started with a 7-0 win at home to Whitehaven B while Maryport were 0-7 victors at Fitz Park.

Whitehaven A also took on Workington opposition as they won 5-2 at home to Vulcan Park and Workington B lost 5-2 at Seaton.

Playing their game early Workington A recorded a second win on Wednesday, May 1, with a 0-7 victory at Cleator Moor.
