Cumbria’s Rugby Union Sides Head Into Semi Final Of Papa Johns Cup Competitions

Cumbria’s rugby union side still in the hunt for silverware in the Papa Johns Cup competitions.

In the Regional 1 Shield semifinal Cumbria’s Penrith will head to Leek on Saturday, May 4, after getting put through after the other sides in their group withdrew from the competition.

However Leek will be playing their third game of the competition after beating Scunthorpe 31-41 and Sandbach 45-19.

The winners will face either Stoke on Trent or Westcliff in the final.

Two Cumbrian sides faced off in the Region 2 North Shield as Kirkby Lonsdale lost 23-18 at Keswick on Saturday, April 20.

Keswick will take on West Hartlepool on May 4 with a game aginst Olney or Winnington Park on offer for the victor.

The county was left with just two entries after Wigton lost 17-55 to Wetherby in the Counties 1 Northern Plate on April 20.
