Newlaithes Ladies and Abbeytown Ladies have taken an early lead in the Andrea Women’s League.

Former champions Newlaithes picked up a 0-10 win at Stanwix Bees on Wednesday, April 24, with Emma Hird scoring a hat trick, Abi Telford and Megan McCormick picked up two, Faye Comber, Nicola Waugh and Katie Sibley all got on the scoresheet.

Abbeytown lost 0-5 to Workington Diamonds while Penrith AFC were held to a 0-0 at Xtreme Fitness as Carlisle United Ladies lost 0-2 Stanwix Hornets.

Opening their season Allerdale Wildcats picked up a surprise 2-1 win against Whitehaven AFC with Lauren and Liz hitting the winning goals.

Bring their game forward Xtreme Fitness lost 1-2 to Abbeytown on Tuesday, April 30, with Maddy Ferguson and Molly Nicholson getting the goals for Abbeytown.

While Workington Reds and Penrith AFC battle it out at Borough Park for the Women’s County Cup Penrith’s Andrea Buggy team host Vickerstown.

Newlaithes will look to go clear at the top with victory over Workington Diamonds as Kendal Town will want to pick up their first points of the season when they head to Whitehaven AFC Ladies and Stanwix Bees host Carlisle United.

All matches are a 7:10pm (19:10) kickoff.
