American Express Partners With F1 Academy With Cumbrian Racer Representing Them

American Express has been announced as the newest Official Partner of F1 Academy for the 2024 season with Cumbrian Jessica Edgar to represent them.

After becoming the Official Payments Partner of Formula 1 in the Americas last year, American Express is now joining forces with F1 Academy in a collaboration dedicated to powerfully backing
women in sport.

Susie Wolff, MBE, F1 Academy Managing Director, said: “American Express is a worldwide leader in the payments space and a powerful advocate for small businesses and entrepreneurs globally, and we’re proud to welcome them to F1 Academy as an Official Partner.

“We’re thankful to American Express for embracing our vision and for showing their commitment to elevating women in sport and inspiring the next generation of female drivers.”

British driver Jessica Edgar is proudly representing American Express in the #17 car, operated by Rodin Motorsport, and sporting a custom American Express race suit.

The Cumbrian took her first F1 Academy win in America during the final round in Austin, Texas when the women only series joined Formula One.

As part of the deal American Express will run a custom livery featuring American Express and Shop Small’ branding, as well as the logo of a local small business to support small businesses, at each remaining round of the 2024 season.

Elizabeth Rutledge, Chief Marketing Officer, American Express said: “We are thrilled to launch our global partnership with F1 ACADEMY for the 2024 season.

“Powerfully backing communities is core to American Express’ DNA. With this partnership we hope to continue to foster equal opportunities for women, on and off the track, while spotlighting women-owned small businesses and their impact on their local communities.”

Shop Small’ – a global movement created by American Express committed to supporting local small businesses – calls attention to the valuable and distinct contributions they make to their communities.

At the first race in Miami the American Express livery is showcasing Caja Caliente, a local female-founded Cuban restaurant created by Monica “Mika” Leon.

Leon started her career in her mother’s garage, before moving to a food truck in 2016, and has since grown her business to her brick-and-mortar store in Coral Gables, Fla.

Kicking off the partnership in Miami (May 3-5), F1 Academy and American Express will activate their Official Partnership with A Celebration of Women with Drive.

As a brand that creates unforgettable experiences for its Card Members, American Express is hosting a Card Member event with F1 Academy on Wednesday, May 1 in Miami to celebrate women in business and sports.

The event will feature special guest and award-winning artist Camila Cabello.
