The Andrea Women’s League kicked off with new and returning teams taking to the field.

Twelve teams entered this seasons competition as it kicked off on Wednesday, April 17.

Newlaithes Ladies FC powered into first with four goals for Emma Hird, and two assists piece for Chelsea Murry and Faye Comber as they won 8-0 against Carlisle United Ladies Development.

A young Penrith AFC Ladies side hit seven with Emily Mitchell scoring six and Ella Porter adding the seventh as they ran out 7-2 against Stanwix Bees.

It wasn’t a great start to the season for Carlisle based Stanwix as their second entry lost 1-3 to Abbeytown Ladies with Anna Middleton, Eden Beattie and Gracie-Mai Harrison getting the goals for the Wigton based side.

Whitehaven AFC Ladies Yellow are the West Cumbrians only entry this season and got off to a good start with a 5-1 win over Xtreme Fitness Ladies.

A double from Ashleigh McAllister as Ellie-May Callander, Ella Beadsmoore and Megan Batey sealed the win with Hannah Jens scoring for Xtreme Fitness.

New side Kendal Town FC Ladies lost 2-1 at Vickerstown in their opening game.

In the second round Newlaithes Ladies head to Stanwix Bees while Stanwix Hornets head to Carlisle United Development and Xtreme Fitness face Penrith AFC.

Workington Diamonds get their season underway at Abbeytown Ladies while Allerdale Wildcats start with a home game against Whitehaven AFC Ladies.

All matches are a 7:00pm (19:00) kickoff.
