Busy Start To The Week For Keswick Mountain Rescue As Serious Incidents Continue

Keswick Mountain Rescue have continued to respond to serious incidents as they reach forty rescues this year.

The volunteer agency’s thirty-eighth rescue took place on April 13 as a walker slipped on ground causing a painful ankle injury as they were out on Catbells.

Attending the 24 member team provided pain relief prior to splinting before the casualty was stretchered to their vehicle and made their own way to hospital for further treatment.

The next day April 14 A walker in a party of six fell some distance whilst descending Hind Gill on Glaramara.

Potential serious injuries were reported, including a possible punctured lung, the casualty was still moving towards Seathwaite.

Deploying a vehicle Keswick received news that the casualty had arrived at Seathwaite and was met by two team members who had travelled direct, quickly followed by an ambulance.

The man was transported to Carlisle hospital for further treatment.

On April 15 a 69 year old man slipped and fell on a path near to the Hollows Farm campsite in Borrowdale.

This resulted in a very painful hip fracture.

Pain relief was provided prior to packaging the man in a vacuum mattress for a short stretcher carry to an ambulance.
