Plans have been submitted to Cumberland Council for the refurbishment of Cleator Moor Activity Centre.
As part of the Cleator Moor Town Deal’s Healthy Town the centre is set to be redeveloped to provide an activity centre “that meets the needs of the local community.”

The plans for the centre that opened in 1991, include a multipurpose studio, fitness suite and community cafe along with new changing facilities.
It will also become the home of the Copeland Occupational and Social Centre (COSC) as their current location does not meet its needs.
The development has come under fire from the bowling community as the purpose built centre opened as Copeland Bowling Centre, a four rink bowling green before early demand increased it to five.
As use decreased the centre diversified with the current gym replacing the functions room and 3G Football pitch being upgraded in 2020.
Under the plans submitted the bowling green would be replaced with a sports hall.

The surround area of the centre would be landscaped with paths allowing for easier access into the small wood and grassland.
Additional car parking would be created to support the centre, 3G Pitch and COSC.
