Easter Sunday Tumble Leads To Mountain Rescue And Air Ambulance Call Out

A walker who took a tumble while descending the fells lead to a call out for the Mountain Rescue and Air Ambulance.

Out walking on Easter Sunday, March 31, the walker was descending Fleetwith Edge took a tumbling fall through Low Raven Crag, continuing down the steep grassy bank beyond, and suffering head and back injuries.

Cockermouth Mountain Rescue

They were initially treated by passing walkers, a member of Cockermouth Mountain Rescue who was already in the area.

Once the team from Cockermouth arrived the aid in the stabilisation and treatment of the walker.

A spokesperson for Cockermouth Mountain Rescue added: “A big thank you to the groups who stopped to help before we arrived.”

They were then stretchered to the Great North Air Ambulance’s Helimed58 which had managed to land in a field about 300m away, and flown to Preston.

The mountain rescue teams in the county are all volunteers ran organisations that rely on public support.
