Double Call Out For Penrith Mountain Rescue

While the weather was nice it ended with two call outs for Penrith Mountain Rescue.

On Sunday, March 24, the first call for Penrith came from the North West Ambulance Service after a golfer had sustained a lower leg injury, but was just out of reach of the course buggies at Brampton.

As the team responded, they were making their way to the location but received the news that the ambulance crew could manage, and were stood down.

A quick 43 minute call out for the 9 members of the team.

Armathwaite call out – Penrith Mountain Rescue

The second call for the team came again from the North West Ambulance Service, after they had a call for a walker that had slipped sustaining a painful lower leg injury north of Armathwaite by the river Eden.

Once on scene the team gave pain relief and splinted the injury before loading the casualty onto the stretcher to be hauled up the very slippery banking into a field for transport to a waiting ambulance.

This was a longer call for the 14 members that made up the Penrith Team at 3 hours 23 mins.

A spokesperson for Penrith said: “This is the second time we have been called to exactly the same location for a similar injury, and we are grateful to the landowner for letting us drive through their fields to get closer to the incident.

“We would like to wish both casualties a speedy recovery.”
