Workington Comets Delighted To Continue The Meteors For 2024

Workington Comets are delighted to be able to continue to field a Meteors side.

As part of the British Development Programme and as was discussed at this winter’s AGM, the Workington ‘Snif-Snax’ Meteors will once again come to the tapes in 2024.

Workington Speedway promoter, Andrew Bain is delighted that the legacy of development known at Northside will continue in 2024 saying: “We are delighted to say the Meteors will once again come to the tapes in 2024.

“It’s important that we support British Speedway’s objectives in promoting youth development, we saw last month during the Youth Training Camp at Northside that the future is bright for British Speedway.

“So bringing back the Meteors is another way in which we can support the development of speedway in the UK.”

“Also, we are thrilled to announce that the Meteors will once again be powered by pet food business, Snif-Snax.

“Last year they provided the Meteors with fantastic support and it wouldn’t have been possible without them.”

The 2024 Meteors team will be announced very soon but the Snif-Snax Meteors will also have a new team manager in life-long Comets fan and Workington Comets Supporters Club chairman, James Wilson.

Wilson said: “I’m delighted to be asked to be the team manager for the Meteors in 2024. I am a big fan of youth development in British Speedway and being part of the NJL gives a platform for these young riders on their journey towards the professional leagues.”

“It’s great that we are once again backed by Snif-Snax this season, their support is invaluable to the development of our young riders here at the GT Tyres Arena.”

This year’s NJL will consist of five teams – Workington Snif-Snax Meteors, Redcar Cubs, Ashfield Giants (at Glasgow), and two clubs from Edinburgh, Armadale Angels and the West Lothian Wildcats.

The fixtures have been arranged to coincide with already scheduled Championship Comets meetings, so this will give Comets fans an extra slice of action after the main meetings on the following dates, fixtures in bold are at home.
