The Great North Air Ambulance and Mountian Rescue teams responded to a call out on Scafell Pike.
Wasdale Mountain Rescue received a call yesterday afternoon, March 16, from Cumbria Police regarding a walker who had fallen a sustained a very painful shoulder injury.

A full callout was made and additional helicopter support was requested from the Great North Air Ambulance due to the nature of the injury, weather conditions and length of time it would take for the team to reach the walker.
Duddon and Furness MRT was also asked to support with a possibility of a long stretcher carry.
The Great North Air Ambulance’s Helimed 58 crew was able to get onto scene relatively quickly and give treatment and strong pain relief, however, evacuation by air was unachievable due to weather conditions.
The walker was carefully packaged into stretcher by the Mountain Rescue teams and given further pain relief to allow a sledge, wheel and carry back down to the valley floor.
After a six hour and ten minute operation a handover was given to the awaiting North West ambulance before the walker was taken to hospital for further assessment and treatment.
A Wasdale Mountain Rescue spokesperson said: “We wish him a speedy recovery and hope he is back on the fells soon.”
