A unique fundraising challenge that started in Cumbria has traveled across the border to Scotland before it is rolled out across the UK.
In October 2023 Egremont Fire Station devised the Bucket Challenge, in which the crew and supporters passed a bucket of water between one another on a nine-mile route to Whitehaven.
The event raised a fantastic £2,500 for The Fire Fighters Charity.

With the support of the charity, Egremont has linked up with Scottish Fire and Rescue Service.
A spokesperson for Cumbria Fire and Rescue said: “We look forward to following the progress of the bucket on its travels around Scotland and the UK, and we hope everyone supports the fundraising efforts.”
Meeting on the border Egremont Station Manager Willie Watson, Watch Manager Dave McDowell and Firefighters Shaun Agnew and Ryan Fitzsimmons met with Gretna Fire Station representatives and passed a commemorative bucket to the crew for their own fundraising to begin.
The bucket will then be passed to Gretna’s neighbouring station at Annan, then around Scotland, before heading down to Northumberland Fire and Rescue Service and beyond.
