Cumbria Rugby Union League Comes To An End As Regional Leagues Head Into Final Games

The Cumbria League comes to an end as the last games are to be played but the Regional League sides head into their final games.

In Regional 1 North West there were two games played on Saturday, March 9, with Penrith remaking the trip Anselmians where they went down 26-22 and Leek lost a low scoring game 11-18 to Stockport.

All sides return to action on Saturday, March 16, as leaders Macclesfield host Anselmians knowing they need to realistically win all of their three remaining games to win the title while Rossendale travel to Northwich needing to win all their games and hope Macclesfield lose one.

Third placed Blackburn head to Stockport as Wirral make the trip to Sandbach and Manchester host Leek.

It is the last Cumbrian derby of the season as Penrith welcome Kendal.

In the Regional 2 North the side return to the field on March 16 as Percy Park make the trip to Middlesbrough that could seal promotion as Northern welcome West Hartlepool.

Fifth welcomes fourth as Aspatria take on Durham City while Keswick host Morpeth as Upper Eden play Stockton and Cockermouth face Consett.

In Regional 2 North West Kirkby Lonsdale played their catch up game on March 9 which ended in a 23-17 at Douglas (I.O.M).

Birkenhead Park head to Kirkby Lonsdale on March 16 as Bowden make the trip to third placed Firwood Waterloo while Crewe & Nantwich travel to Douglas (I.O.M).

Liverpool St Helens welcome Burnage as Altrincham Kersal make the trip to Vale of Lune and Whitchurch face Winnington Park.

In the Cumbria League the final round of games take place on March 16.

At the top Egremont currently hold third place and welcome Keswick 2nd as fourth placed Whitehaven head to Hawcoat Park and fifth placed St Benedicts face Windermere, a win for any club could move them into third depending on results elsewhere.

Aspatria 2nd host Penrith 2nd who could take sixth and Workington could move up to eighth with a win at second placed Wigton.
