Wasdale Mountain Rescue’s busy weekend continued with a boat rescue off the screes of Wast Water.
As the Wasdale team were returning from rescuing the two dogs in March 2, another call had been received from Cumbria Police and another group of team member with fresher legs were been deployed.

Once again, they passed each other in opposite directions.
The call was regarding a mother and son who had become stuck on the Screes ‘path’ with no injuries.
The team deployed a well-practiced response of a boat deployment, pick-off, and transfer to the opposite shore.
This was undertaken without incident and the team returned to base.
In total, callouts were ongoing from 4:39pm on Friday to 6:11pm on Saturday evening, a true test of both the Wasdale and wider MR Teams’ resilience.
The mountain rescue teams around the county are all volunteer organisations that rely on donations to run.
