A cold and snowy call out for Wasdale Mountain Rescue end with a happy ending.
Receiving a call from Cumbria Police on March 1 Wasdale Mountain Rescue were informed that a party of two walkers had reported themselves lost on their Scafell Pike descent.
Unfortunately the Wasdale Team Leader was unable to make further contact with the party by phone, but coordinates from the original emergency call was available, so their location was known.
With the walkers somewhere on the Corridor Route on Scafell Pike, the prevailing winter conditions, and lack of further contact, a search party from the team was tasked to investigate and escort off the fell if necessary.
However, shortly after this request was made, contact was made with the walkers; they had managed to descend on the correct path to Seathwaite and no longer needed help.
It was later confirmed that they had safely returned to their vehicle and the log was closed.
The operation took just under three and a half hours and involved eleven team members.
This followed an earlier call where a group had got lost on Scafell but with good phone signal they were talked down off the fell.
Mountain rescue teams are charity organisation relying on donations from the public and businesses.
