Cat Rescued As Tumble Dryer Sets Fire To House

Two Carlisle fire stations responded after the tumble dryer set fire to a house and rescued a cat.

In the early hours of February 28 appliances from Carlisle East and Carlisle West Fire Station were mobilised to reports of a kitchen fire on Almery Drive, Carlisle.

Once in attendance, crews discovered a well developed fire in the kitchen of the property, which had started in a tumble dryer.

Crews extinguished the blaze using 2 sets of breathing apparatus, a hosereel, and small tools.

While in the firefighters rescued a cat from the property, which was none the worse for wear.

Damage to the property was limited to the kitchen because the homeowner wisely closed the kitchen door to stop fire spread, and they had working smoke alarms in the property which gave them an early warning.
