The location app What3Words helped Coniston Mountain Rescue provide a quick response after a walker got lost.

On February 17 the wet and misty afternoon conditions caused a woman, out for a walk, to get lost in the low fells to the west of the A593.

She called Cumbria Police for help who passed it onto Coniston Mountain Rescue.

Her location was established via the What3Words app, and a team were despatched with a Land Rover.

She was soon found and after being given some warm dry clothing, she was accompanied back down to the road to her accommodation.
