The county’s provision for women’s football continues to grow as Whitehaven AFC have announced that they will be launching a new side.
With a senior women’s team competing in the Lancashire FA’s County League Whitehaven AFC have made the next step in their development plan with the announcement of a development side.
The club have been performing well in the league sitting top of the Championship and they also fielded two sides in the Andrea Buggy 9-a-side Summer League where they won the league in 2023.
The new development side will enter the Lancashire League for the 24/25 Season.
In a post on social media announcing the news the club said: “The Club Committee unanimously voted in favour of the next stage of the project last week as the senior set up continues to exceed expectation.
“Not only that, but the club confirmed their home ground will be where they belong, at Whitehaven AFC.
“We will be holding player sessions in the coming months, but if you are a player who is turning 16 this season or next or maybe you are older and looking for a new challenge and would like further information or interested in joining, message our Ladies Development Team Manager Rob Campbell 07423 133 120”
