A local company has raised thousands for Ulverston’s St Mary’s Hospice at their annual customer golf days.
Home and Finance Ltd, a renowned local company, has raised more than £3,000 for St Mary’s Hospice through their annual customer golf days.

Kevin Walsh, Home & Finance Director, said: “We have, for the past 30 years plus been raising and contributing money to and for many different charities across the UK and local area, by way of raising funds via our Annual Customer Golf Days and our annual Christmas time contributions.
“The funds we raise at our Customer Golf Days could not be made possible without the outstanding hospitality given by each of the golf clubs we use, historically being Barrow Golf Club and Grange Over Sands Golf Club, but more recently we have used Ulverston Golf Club and this year also Eskdale Golf Club.
“In recent years our use of Ulverston Golf Club has been helped by the welcome received from Alyn Cousins, who is a proactive part of what we can provide on the day, but also by the whole team there, green staff and caterers alike are so very friendly and have always gone out of their way to make us feel so welcome which is why we return year after year.”
Over the last 30 years Home and Finance Ltd have raised money for different charities across the UK and the local area.
As colleagues, customers, and keen golfers came together to enjoy a round of golf to raise money for good causes.
In total, Home and Finance Ltd were able to raise £3,315 which has been donated to St Mary’s Hospice.
The Ulverston based charity, which provides care to people with life-limiting conditions and their families from across South Cumbria, will use the money to provide hospice care to those in need.
Reflecting on why St Mary’s Hospice was the chosen charity this year, Kevin added: “When we have any customer get together it’s always nice to give something back but it’s our customers, year on year who contribute and we also enjoy what we do.
“We have donated the funds raised to so many different charities over the years, but St Mary’s Hospice is massively important to the area, it plays such a huge role in many people’s lives and is so close to the hearts of so many of our customers, that is the obvious choice for the majority of the funds we raise to go to.”
Annabelle Holloway, Corporate Partnerships Manager at St Mary’s Hospice, thanked the company and its customers for raising money for the hospice.
She added: “Our care is available to anyone in the Furness or South Lakes area who has a life-limiting illness and without the kind generosity of companies and people like Home and Finances Ltd we wouldn’t be able to keep going.
“We only receive a small percentage of funding from the Government meaning the work we do is funded by donations like these.
“Thank you again to Home and Finance Ltd for thinking about us and choosing us to receive the money this year.”
St Mary’s Hospice relies on donations to help with the running costs and provide the best care possible to those in need and their families.
Without the kind donations of those in the local area and people taking on challenges, they wouldn’t be able to carry out the vital work they do.
