An experienced fell walker was helped off Greenup Edge by Keswick Mountian Rescue after underestimating the conditions.
On January 20 an experienced 74 year old fell walker called 999 for Mountain Rescue assistance having underestimated the wild conditions on a walk from Rosthwaite to Grasmere.

Using a Phone Find located him on Greenup Edge and a small team from Keswick Mountian Rescue was dispatched to go and bring him back to Borrowdale.
They found the man hunkered down behind a rock, he was given food and some warm layers and walked off the hill.
A spokesperson for Keswick Mountain Rescue said: “The man was dressed completely in black and may well have been missed for some time by his searchers, especially in such wild conditions.
“Nobody goes out with the intention of getting caught out, lost or having an accident, wearing bright and visible clothing does make it considerably easier to get found.”
