Mountain Rescue Team Called Out As Group Get Lost On Way To Honister Slate Mine

A group of walkers called for assistance from Cockermouth Mountain Rescue as they got lost on the way to Honsiter Slate Mine.

The call out happened late on January 12 after the party of three left the Warnscale Bothy, also known as ‘Room with a View’ after the carbon monoxide detector sounded repeatedly.

They sensibly left the Bothy, and tried to find their way back to their parked car at Honister Slate Mine.

However thick mist and the lack of light as they were heading back after sunset meant they had got lost but they managed to find their way back to the Bothy.

There Cockermouth Mountain Rescue members found, assessed them and assisted them off the hill.
